A Pictorial History of Our Logo in Signage

CUSTOM WOOD SIGNS was founded by Don Sorber in 1982.

This sign was originally attached to the back of Don’s truck.

This is my favorite of all the older logos. I think its because its reminds me of logos that were on the packaging of some of the Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars I played with as a kid.

The first version of the logo Don ran with.

The final genesis of Don’s logo. This sign was mounted on the outside of our shop for many, many years before John and I took over operations in the Autumn of 2021.

This is the current logo that I designed, and then made into a physical sign by John, in late 2021.

Before becoming a partner at Custom Wood Signs, Kevin gained over two decades of experience as an illustrator & designer working for clients in the skateboard, music, auto, comic book, and children’s book industries to name a few. As a younger fella, he played, recorded, and toured with some very loud music outfits. He even got to do a little soundtrack work for television. Kevin loves his daughter, skateboarding, mid-century design, hamburger sandwiches with cheese, and quotes by Arthur Fonzarelli.
